Costas Delaportas (DryDel Shipping) Joins Capital Link Dry Bulk panel in London Shipping Week 2025

LinkedIn post

An engaging debate & forward-looking insights at Capital Link’s Dry Bulk Panel, held this week as part of London International Shipping Week 2025.

DryDel Shipping is proud to participate as a sponsor of the event, with the President & CEO, Mr. Costas Delaportas, joining the panel alongside Bahri | البحري Dry Bulk, Pangaea Logistics Solutions, and SwissMarine.

Commodities & Simandou ramp-up, Coal dynamics, FFA trends, Fleet renewal (Capes or Ultras?), Digitalization, Supply-demand, were discussed among others.

Mr. Costas Delaportas’ perspective on several of these issues:

✔️ “With fresh capital in hand, I would choose both Capes & Ultramaxes - I am a big fan of diversification in my fleet.”
✔️ “I’m bullish on Capes - they appear to offer a stronger setup compared to midsize bulkers at present.”
✔️ “I believe discipline is the long-term success driver – that’ s why I prefer to keep DryDel as a boutique, mid-sized company with a strong balance sheet & proactive cash flow control.”
✔️ “Coal will remain relevant in the medium term. The world still needs reliable energy & electricity generation, especially with growing demand from AI, data centers, and EVs.”
✔️ “Ton-mile growth of +3.5% in 2026 & +4% in 2027, points to a balanced dry bulk market ahead.”

DryDel extends its thanks to Capital Link & Nicolas Bornozis for hosting yet another well-organized forum - and to all fellow panelists for the engaging exchange.
