A CFO’s Perspective: DryDel at the 5th Capital Link Forum in Tokyo

Trade Flows Shape Demand. Fleet Quality Defines Competitiveness.

DryDel Shipping’s Chief Financial Officer, Michalis Livanos, participated in the “Global Commodity & Energy Markets: Trends, Trade Flows & Shipping” panel at the Capital Link Forum in Tokyo.

The discussion examined the evolving dynamics of global dry bulk trade, including the emerging significance of West African iron ore exports, shifting trade patterns and the opportunities these developments present for the shipping industry.

A key message from DryDel was that one of shipping’s most significant opportunities lies in fleet modernisation.

While changes in global trade flows will continue to shape vessel demand, we believe that long-term competitiveness will increasingly depend on fleet quality, fuel efficiency and the ability to adapt to evolving market and environmental requirements.

For DryDel Shipping, the objective is not simply to expand our fleet, but to invest in better, more efficient vessels that will remain competitive throughout market cycles.

We thank Capital Link, moderator Hoyoon Nam and our fellow panellists for an insightful discussion and valuable exchange of perspectives.
