Posidonia2026 : A quick wrap-up of the first 2 dynamic days
mong partners, clients, colleagues & friends, with non-stop meetings, discussions, & memorable Posidonia evenings, DryDel Shipping CEO, Costas Delaportas, had the pleasure of participating in 2 important shipping panels:
📍 Capital Link Maritime Leaders Summit – Greece on Monday, June 1
Panel: Dry Bulk at an Inflection Point: Supply, Demand & Corporate Strategy
📍 TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Greece at Posidonia 2026, on Tuesday, June 2
Panel: Shipping in the Crosshairs – Operating in a Polarised World
Markets change. Politics change. Cycles change.
But shipping always finds a way & moves forward.
A few points our CEO shared during the panels:
⚓ Without fuel, there is no shipping.
If this situation continues, fuel availability must be protected, by taking practical action, including slow steaming, to reduce consumption & make fuel more available. In my view, if the crisis is prolonged, slow steaming should become mandatory.
⚓ Effective supply matters more than just fleet numbers.
⚓ Congestion, deviations & increasing ton-miles remain major drivers of market strength.
⚓ Geopolitical escalation remains a major macro risk.
⚓ Liquidity, a strong balance sheet & flexibility are strategic advantages.
⚓ New vessel designs & higher efficiency matter - while the future fuel landscape remains uncertain, investing in newbuilding vessels supports fuel savings & shipping decarbonisation.
⚓ Shipping can comply with any rules, but policymakers' rules must be clear, practical & fair.
Thank you to the Organisers, Moderators, fellow Panelists & everyone who took the time to exchange views over these last 2 days.
